MSU women's golf adding Yurika Tanida to the program
Japan native Yurika Tanida signed a National Letter of Intent and will join the Spartans for the 2017-18 MSU women’s golf season, head coach Stacy Slobodnik-Stoll announced April 12.
"We are thrilled to be adding Yurika to the Spartan Family this fall," Slobodnik-Stoll said to MSU Athletic Communications. "She is a wonderful competitor and a very kind young woman. Yurika was a perfect fit for us; she has big dreams athletically and academically and we look forward to helping her reach all of them."
A native of Kanagawa, Japan, Tanida is currently attending Morningside Academy in Florida and is ranked No. 118 by the AJGA and No. 26 in the Class of 2017.
Tanida will come to East Lansing with an already impressive resume, including capturing the 2016 season-ending Future Collegians World Tour Championship at PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. with a three-round score of 75, 74 and 76.
Tanida also finished as the runner-up in four tournaments during the past year at the AJGA Toyota Music City Junior, FSGA Florida State Girls Amateur, PGA Junior Series and the South Florida Junior PGA Championship, and placed in the top 20 at the 2016 Women's Dixie Amateur.
A member of Club Med Academies in Port Saint Lucie, Fla., Tanida will graduate from Morningside Academy this spring.
