The East Lansing Police Department will host its first open house on Thursday at 409 Park Ln. from 5 to 8 p.m., according to a press release. It is open to the public and free.

The event will feature K-9 demonstrations, drunk goggles, jail tours, snacks and more.

“We are hosting this Open House in an effort to continue to have positive interactions with the community we serve,” ELPD Lt. Steve Gonzalez said in a press release. “We hope community members of all ages will consider coming out to meet our officers and learn more about ELPD and what we do. There will be a little something for everyone.”

The open house was created in response to the Police Community Forum hosted in the fall of 2016 where community members asked for greater transparency from ELPD, according to the press release.

The event will also be streamed live on Facebook.
