$1 million donation to be used for construction of lights at DeMartin
MSU announced Wednesday the contribution of $1 million through the Spartan Fund, according to a press release. The gift will be used to support the construction of lights at DeMartin Soccer Stadium, the home field of the MSU men's and women's soccer teams. The benefit comes from alumnus Craig Bush, a 1983 graduate of MSU's James Madison College.
Along with the renovations to DeMartin Stadium, a portion of the gift was used to complete a fundraiser for the Lasch Family Golf Center. The proposed naming of the added facility will be the Craig Bush Indoor Practice Area.
The donation from Bush came in support of Empower Extraordinary, the campaign for MSU. It marks the 25th gift of at least $1 million to MSU Athletics since the campaign started in July 2011.
“The timing is great as I have reached a point in my life where I am able to contribute to causes that are important to me,” Bush said in the press release. “Michigan State has been very meaningful and influential in my life. I have made strong, life-long friendships here."
DeMartin Stadium will be featured again when the MSU men's soccer team is back in action as a part of the NCAA Tournament. There, the Spartans will host Southern Illinois University Edwardsville at 1 p.m. Thursday.
