Several instances of thefts reported to MSU police

February 12, 2016

MSU police are reporting three instances of larceny on campus, Capt. Doug Monette said. Monette said it is imperative for students to secure their belongings in lockers when they exercise or play sports and to lock their doors.

The first incident occurred on Feb. 9 in East Holmes Hall. A student reported their iPhone 6s stolen while playing basketball. The victim said they had left their phone in a bundle of clothes and when they returned, it was gone. There are no suspects in this case.

A second incident of larceny occurred at Snyder Hall on Feb. 9 at about midnight. A victim reported two debit cards and a gas card stolen from an area in Snyder Hall. The victim deactivated the debit cards and there are no suspects in the case.

The third case of larceny occurred on Feb. 10 around 8:50 p.m. in IM Sports-East when a victim reported their cell phone stolen. The victim said they had left their cell phone in a shoe while playing basketball and when they returned, it was gone. There are no suspects in this case.

Fire

On Feb. 9, MSU police responded to a small dorm room fire which had been started by a candle in Mason Hall. The subject reported the candle ignited a cardboard box and destroyed their laptop.
