MSU redshirt freshman forward Kenny Goins could be out at least a couple weeks with what looks like a sprained MCL with the possibility of there being a small tear, Tom Izzo said on the Dan Dakich Show Monday afternoon.

Goins went down with about 10:36 to play in the first half Sunday afternoon in MSU's win over Indiana and was unable to put any weight on his left leg as he was helped to the locker room. He did not return to the bench after leaving the game.

Goins, who earned a scholarship this season after spending his first season as a walk-on, has been carving out a nice role for himself on the team. While he averages 2.1 points and three rebounds per game, his hustle, rebounding and defensive ability have kept him on the court to the tune of 18.4 minutes per game in the five games leading up to his injury Sunday.

Goins had been playing well as of late, including a nine point and nine rebound effort last Tuesday in MSU's one-point loss to Purdue and a valuable 5-of-6 effort from the free-throw line.

Goins' absence could mean more playing time for sophomore forward Marvin Clark Jr. who played 22 minutes Sunday, all of which coming after Goins' injury, and totaled four points and four rebounds.

Clark had played just 3.8 minutes per game in the five games prior to the Indiana game, scoring a combined four points.
