MSU head basketball coach Tom Izzo is among the list of class of 2016 candidates eligible for induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, the institution announced Monday afternoon.

The list of 100-plus candidates will be narrowed down to a list of finalists at a press conference during the NBA All-Star Weekend, which is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 12, 2016 in Toronto, Ontario. From these finalists, the inductees will then be selected by the direct elect committees. Those selections will be unveiled on Monday, April 4, 2016 at the Men's NCAA Final Four in Houston, Texas.

The enshrinement of the inductees will take place in Springfield, Mass. from Sept. 8-10, 2016.

In his 21-year head coaching career at MSU, Izzo has achieved a record of 507-199, while guiding his teams to seven Final Fours, seven Big Ten Championships and a national championship in 2000.

Izzo's 2015-16 team is currently off to its best start in school history (12-0) and is ranked No. 1 in the country.

The Spartans next game will be on Dec. 22 against Oakland University (7-3) at 7:00 p.m., at The Palace of Auburn Hills.
