Week in Review: Nov. 6, 2015

November 6, 2015

What do elections, Kevin Hart, and public masturbation have in common?

They were all top stories this week on The State News!

Here’s a breakdown of each story.

On Tuesday, East Lansing held City Council Elections. Three new council members were elected: Erik Altmann, Shanna Draheim, and Mark Meadows. East Lansing Mayor Nathan Triplett also ran for a seat but lost. Student voter turnout was low again, with only 33 of the 2600 registered student voters heading to the polls.

Comedian Kevin Hart will be coming to East Lansing for a performance later this month. He will performing his “What Now?” comedy tour at the Breslin Center at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 24.

Tickets will be $25 for students and $75 for general public. Pre-sale began today, and tomorrow at 10 a.m. the student ticket cost will rise to $45.

MSU Police reported an incident of public masturbation and resisting arrest on Oct. 28. Two witnesses saw a 62-year-old male masturbating on the first level of the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center parking ramp. Police made contact with the individual, who had been drinking, and the suspect resisted arrest.

Those were your top stories for this week. Have a great weekend, Spartans. Go green!
