The event will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 26, at the MSU Detroit Center. Guests who come out will enjoy a great location to watch America’s Thanksgiving Day Parade as they'll be watching from windows overlooking Woodward Avenue — where the parade passes right by. 

There will also be a bottomless breakfast buffet in addition to endless cocoa and coffee to prepare guests for the real feast they’ll be having later that day. Musical performances by the students/faculty, arts and crafts activities for children and a silent auction featuring prizes like restaurant gift-certificates, concert tickets and select merchandise.

Tickets are on sale now and are only available for advance sale. They can also only be purchased online at http://www.cms.msu.edu/detroit/. Tickets will be $40 for adults and $25 for children 12 and under — parking is not included.

The MSU Community Music School-Detroit provides affordable music education and music therapy clinical services to low income children and families in Detroit. Registered students of any age are available to apply for tuition assistance at CMS-D. Tuition is based off of families household income and family size. 

“We provide subsidized music lessons for children that average $5 per week, as well as loan instruments at no charge,” Director of CMS-Detroit Jill Woodward said in a press release. “For many families, there are economic barriers to participation in music lessons. Funds raised at this event will enable us to support music learning for children in financial need. Music is part of Detroit’s DNA, and we want the next generation of children to have access to this valuable curriculum.”

Enrollment at CMS-D has increased 357 percent since they opened their doors in 2009-10. In 2014-15 enrollment for onsite classes and camps was 983. CMS-D offer a wide variety of classes to all ages from toddlers to adults.
