ELPD arraign suspect on counts of criminal sexual conduct

Mikael Alexandre Frutin, the 26-year-old accused of six counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct, was arraigned Monday in 54B District Court, according to an East Lansing police statement.

His preliminary hearing is set for Oct. 16, and he is being held without bail. 

The East Lansing Police Department began its investigation of Frutin in July 2014 after he was accused of having an illegal sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl. He was the victim’s gymnastics instructor at Red Cedar Gymnastics in Delhi Township. Police said none of the alleged crimes happened at Red Cedar Gymnastics.

After becomming aware of the ELPD investigation, Frutin fled to Los Angelas, Calif. where he was arrested by the United States Marshals Service on Sept. 4.
