Couch fire in Cedar Village reported early Saturday morning

July 13, 2015

Although not a single MSU sporting event took place Friday night, people in Cedar Village evidently found some reason to burn a couch.

East Lansing police Lt. Steve Gonzalez said a lone couch fire was discovered behind the apartment building at 124 Cedar Street on July 11 at 2:14 a.m.

Gonzalez said there were no witnesses nor are there any suspects as to who started the fire.

This certainly isn't the first time couch fires have hit East Lansing's parts. However, it is an anomaly that, in this case, it doesn't coincide with any sort of sporting event, such as following the MSU basketball team's loss to Duke in the 2015 Final Four, or after the 2013 MSU football win over Ohio State in the Big Ten Championship.
