MSU Board of Trustees meets to discuss tuition hike, smoking ban

June 17, 2015

Two major votes will be taken by the MSU Board of Trustees at their June 17 meeting that will effect students for years to come. The Trustees will discuss a possible tuition raise and look into a proposal to ban smoking on campus.

While tuition raises are a common thing at MSU, being raised last year, the possible ban on smoking will make MSU in line with a number of other Big Ten schools.

If the trustees vote to ban smoking, the policy would likely not be implemented for another year, according to tobaccofree.msu.edu, the website of the task force headed by the Office of the University Physician.

The meeting begins at 11:30 a.m., visit statenews.com for updates.
