Names have been released in the investigation into a fatal single-car crash which took place around 6:05 a.m. Monday on eastbound I-96 at the northbound US127 exit, where a vehicle left the road and struck a tree.

Upon arrival to the scene, deputies found a deceased 23-year-old male, since identified as Lincoln Park, Mich., resident Tariq V. Strong Jr., in the driver's seat and three other passengers with various injuries.

The passengers were then rushed to Sparrow Hospital where a 19-year-old female, since identified as Madison C. Cooke of Gibraltar, Mich., was pronounced deceased. The two other passengers — 19-year-old female Gina M. Badia of Southgate, Mich., and 18-year-old female Megan E. Ockerman of Dearborn, Mich., — remain in critical condition.

The investigation into the cause of the crash remains open. However, drugs are believed to be a factor, according to a statement from the Ingham County Sheriff's Office.
