NOT an April Fools' Day prank: You can play Pac-Man on Google Maps

April 1, 2015

Google normally has a creative interactive on their homepage complimenting most holidays — but not today on April Fools' Day.

Instead, they made it possible for users to play Pac-Man on their favorite locations via Google Maps.

The feature, that went live Tuesday, is temporary and may only be extended until the end of the day.

To play, type your desired location into the search bar on Google Maps and click the Pac-Man icon next to the satellite view button in the bottom left hand corner. Some areas do not have enough roads to work for gaming — both East Lansing and Michigan State University work.

"Blinky," "Pinky," "Inky" and "Clyde" follow Pac-Man around your created map, while the intensity rises users advance through different levels.

Locations like Rose Bowl and Downtown Detroit are higher difficulty than areas like campus with straight, spread out roads.
