Flash mob in MSU classroom helps spread awareness for Mental Health Awareness Week

April 21, 2015

A video recently posted to journalism professor Karl Gude's YouTube account shows a flash mob taking place in one of his classes on April 1.

The video shows Gude beginning to teach, while a lone students begins to sing "Ghost" by Ella Henderson and is quickly followed by a number of others, all wearing matching shirts commemorating Mental Health Awareness Week.

The students in the video then move to the front of the class in the midst of a number of confused lecture-goers. The group ends their song with a plea for students to talk more about mental health.

Gude had discovered the flash mob beforehand and gave cameras to students, he said in an email.

The song was performed by "Ladies First," an all-woman a cappella group.

The video as of early Tuesday afternoon has over 1,500 views on YouTube.
