University Activities Board, in junction with the Women’s Resource Center and Spartan Body Pride, provided relaxing activities that MSU students and a guest could take part in.

The Women’s Resource Center, Planned Parenthood, Recreational Sports and Fitness Services and Spartan Body Pride had booths set up in the International Center and were providing information and pamphlets for anyone who was interested. They left the event a little early though, clearing out around 9 p.m.

Free massages were provided by Creative Wellness, a local East Lansing business. Students had to get there early, because with a limited number of massages available during the event, by 9 p.m. they were already booked until 11 p.m.

Students could join a yoga session if they wanted, but there didn’t seem to be quite as much interest in yoga, especially compared to the options of henna and free massages.

The henna booth seemed to receive the most attention. Students were excited about it and didn’t mind waiting in the long line.

“I’m looking forward to getting henna. I usually only get that on vacation,” psychology freshman Megan Sutherland said.

Sutherland attended the event with her friend Rose Horste.

“She’s one of my friends from back home, so I thought it would be a fun activity for us to do together because we haven’t seen each other in awhile,” Sutherland said. “It sounded fun and relaxing.”

The UAB provided Play-Doh and balloons so students could create their own stress ball. This could be done by putting the Play-Doh inside the balloon and tying up the end.

Lyman Briggs sophomore Josilyn Clark and a few of her friends attended the event. Their goal was to “de-stress from the week” as Clark put it. Genomics and molecular genetics sophomore Brenna Kizer said the event was interesting.
