Town hall to be held on sexual assault

January 27, 2015

The MSU Sexual Assault Task Force has announced a town hall to be held this Thursday, Jan. 29, to discuss the issue of sexual assault on MSU’s campus.

The meeting comes after the recent changes to the MSU Relationship Violence & Sexual Misconduct Policy that took effect on Jan 1.

Also in fresh in the mind of students is the student unrest following the decision by the administration to honor George Will as a fall commencement speaker. MSU President Lou Anna K. Simon promised a town hall meeting to discuss the impact of Will's appearance in a statement to the student body.

Sexual assault on college campuses has been an issue at the forefront of the national dialogue in recent months, and MSU is the subject of its own investigation by the Department of Education because of allegations that it violated the federal law Title IX.

The meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the Brody Hall Auditorium. It is open to anyone who wishes to attend to discuss the relevance and impact of sexual assault on the MSU community and how these issues should be approached.
