MSU football moves up to No. 7 in latest AP Poll

November 30, 2014

MSU football has moved up three spots to No. 7 in the latest AP Poll after knocking off Penn State, 34-10, on Saturday from Beaver Stadium in University Park, Pa.

With move up to No. 7 in the latest poll, MSU matches its highest AP Poll ranking of the season. MSU was ranked No. 7 entering its Sept. 6 matchup against Oregon.

The three spot leap has a lot to do with three teams ahead of the Spartans — UCLA, Georgia and Mississippi State — losing this past weekend. Oregon comes in at No. 3, Ohio State at No. 6 and Nebraska at No. 25 as the only ranked teams MSU has faced this season.

MSU also made the jump to No. 7 in the Amway Coaches Poll on Sunday, sitting one spot behind Ohio State in that poll as well.

The Spartans finished the regular season with a 10-2 record and now will wait for its bowl game assignment, which will be revealed next Sunday.
