15th annual Common Ground Music Festival announces final headliners

April 22, 2014

Common Ground Music Festival announced the final headliners for its 15th annual festival this summer.

Musical artists such as Big Sean, Juicy J, and Earth, Wind and Fire will be added to the mix, the event revealed Tuesday.

Common Ground is an annual week long music festival held in Lansing’s Adado Riverfront Park. This year, the festival will run July 8 though July 13.

On July 11, Big Sean will headline on the Auto Value Main Stage. The Detroit-native who exploded into musical scene in 2007 is best known for his rap lyrics, beats and songs such as “Dance (A$$).”

Rapper Juicy J will open for Big Sean. Juicy J, original member of hip-hop group Three 6 Mafia, recently did a concert at MSU earlier this year.

On July 12, Fitz and The Tantrums, a Los Angeles-based indie pop band known for songs like “Out of My League,” will be the headliner. Fitz and The Tantrums’ “The Walker” is currently No. 2 on Billboard’s Alternative Songs chart.

The six-day concert will close on July 13, when the award-winning soul band Earth, Wind & Fire will take the main stage.

Earth, Wind & Fire has been performing top songs such as “September,” “Let’s Groove” and “Shining Star” since the ‘70s.

Other bands including Brand New, The Wailers, David Nail and The Orwells will be a part of the week’s lineup.

Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. on April 25 and will be available for purchase online at commongroundfest.com. Prices range based on the day of the festival.

More supporting acts will be announced soon.
