MSU police search for campus armed robbery suspect

An armed robbery occurred at 10 p.m. April 30 on Farm and Shaw lanes. The incident was reported at 4 a.m. today.

MSU police currently are investigating the incident, which occurred while a 21-year-old student was walking from the Chemistry Building to the Main Library.

The student noticed a man walking towards him who then proceeded to follow him and demanded the student’s backpack, according to a press release from MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor.

The man was carrying a knife, but the student said he was able to disarm him and flee the scene. Police said the student was not injured during the incident.

The student described the suspect as a college age, thin, Asian male. The suspect was reported to be approximately six feet tall, 160 pounds, have short black hair and no facial hair. He last was seen wearing a white zip-up hoodie and jeans.
