Rather than living the cliché life of a college student, media arts and technology senior Josh Michels has decided to take a different path.

“I have chosen to live minimally because I feel like it is ridiculous to live the way the culture has said is normal,” he said.

Most college students use public transportation or have their own car. As for Michels, biking back and forth from home to school or the grocery store no matter the weather is an everyday occurrence.

“I love biking,” Michels said. “I bike as transportation and enjoyment.”

Michels minimal lifestyle forces him to make decisions when dealing with his social life. Things such as movies and restaurant dinners force Michels to suggest low cost alternatives.

“We’ll have just as much fun, if not more fun just enjoying each other’s company,” Michels said.
