Road woes continue for Spartans

December 22, 2007

The No. 23 MSU women’s basketball team suffered another road loss.

In a battle until the end, Hartford (10-2) clinched the 54-51 win in a second-half comeback thanks to its 17 points off of the 15 Spartan turnovers and Hawks forward Danielle Hood’s 19 points and eight rebounds.

The Spartans were up by three points at the half and had a better shooting percentage in all categories for the game – in the paint, outside of the arc and at the free throw line – but still came up just short of the win.

Freshman forward Kalisha Keane scored a game-high 20 points and 10 rebounds with sophomore center Allyssa DeHaan next in line at 13 points and five blocks.

Now 8-3 on the season, two of the Spartans’ losses have been to unranked teams.

MSU returns to the court on Dec. 28 to open up the Big Ten season on the road against Minnesota.
