The National Weather Service issued a high wind warning and advisory for southeast Michigan until eight p.m. tonight as gusts of wind could reach as high as 60 mph.

The winds have caused power outages and trees to fall in the East Lansing area.

According to MSU Police and Public Safety, Hagadorn Road, between Mt. Hope Rd. and Grand River Ave., is closed. Crews are restoring power lines and poles.

"A lot of it is trees are down and they are pulling down because of the winds...All kinds of wires down, trees are on power lines, it's just a mess," said a representative from the Lansing Board of Water and Light.

The representative said power should be restored by 8 p.m. tonight.

If you are experiencing a power outage, you can report it using BWL's automated phone reporting system by calling (877) 295-5001.
